Ocean Literacy across the Atlantic – B2E signs new MoU

Pursuing our Ocean Literacy mission for all audiences and global collaboration, B2E has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Acqua Mater, an international organization based in Brazil that develops multidisciplinary projects to reconnect us to the Ocean through all its waters.

The main objective of this collaboration will be to explore potential activities that involve the public on Ocean Literacy matters, while sustaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), especially SDG 2 Zero Hunger, SDG 13 Climate Action and SDG 14 Life Under Water. Check out B2E’s ONU Commitment here.

Acqua Mater (Mother Water, in Latin) is an international organization that develops artistic, educational and social projects through partnerships. Its goal is to “share the knowledge that reconnects us with the origins of life and revitalizes our relationship with the WATERS.”

Founded by Patrícia Furtado de Almeida, with a background in Performing Arts, the association offers “communications” at all possible levels, from acting to teaching, speaking, translation and interpretation. Acqua Mater collaborates actively with international institutions such as the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and Sustainable Ocean Alliance’, and has been a speaker at key events such as the UN Ocean Conference 2022, in Lisbon, and COP27, in Egypt.

B2E has a strong communications and dissemination activity, having created three campaigns focused on seafood consumption: “Oh No! It’s a Myth” that unveils aquaculture myths with Science-based data and facts, “The 10 Commandments of Seafood”, a digital guide to better choose seafood, according to environmental and economical sustainability criteria and health and nutritional aspects, and “The AEIOU of Aquaculture” designed for school-aged children.

The CoLAB adds now Acqua Mater to a list of collaboration institutions and networks such as Iceland Ocean Cluster, EU4Ocean and RISE UP (detailed info available here).
