Start-ups present themselves at Blue Wink-E 2023

Conference “How to Finance the Blue Bioeconomy” takes place on 30 November in Matosinhos

Blue Wink-E 2023, organised by B2E – CoLAB for the Blue Bioeconomy, will feature six start-ups in the Blue Connect space. In addition to the conference “How to Finance the Blue Bioeconomy”, the companies will have the opportunity to present their services, projects and innovative solutions in more detail. Blue Wink-E 2023 will take place on the 30th at the Infante D. Henrique Auditorium in Matosinhos, starting at 9.00am.

Each company present represents a particular niche of excellence in the responsible and innovative use of marine resources. From aquaponics solutions, the development of microalgae biotechnology and the creation of biopolymers to sustainable fish production in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), these start-ups are at the forefront of innovation in the blue bioeconomy.

In addition to the opportunity to showcase technologies and projects in the Blue Connect space at Blue Wink-E 2023, the start-ups will have the chance to present their business models and ideas during the main conference programme “How to Finance the Blue Bioeconomy”. This interaction offers not only visibility, but also the opportunity to establish connections with other participants, potential investors and collaborators, strengthening the innovation ecosystem.

One of the objectives of Blue Wink-E, B2E CoLAB’s flagship event, is to create a favourable environment for sharing knowledge, stimulating creativity and promoting collaborations that boost sustainable development in the maritime sectors.

Aquaponics Iberia

Aquaponics Iberia specialises in sustainable and productive aquaponics units, based on proprietary technology developed for intensive food production, taking advantage of symbiotic ecosystems that combine aquaculture and agriculture, generating high-quality fish and vegetable protein.

Fykia Biotech

Fykia Biotech is a young microalgae biotechnology company dedicated to intensive research. Its focus is on developing innovative solutions to solve modern problems in the fields of health, skincare and agriculture.

Bluman

Bluman is a start-up that concentrates its activity on developing biopolymers and biomedical applications from bio-based marine resources to provide solutions for research and development institutions in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cosmetics fields.

PinkTech

The PINKTech project, developed at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research of the University of Porto (CIIMAR-UP), is an embryonic start-up exploring the potential for using marine bacteria isolated from the surface of macroalgae off our coast in various ways. As they are rich in carotenoids, they could be used as a food supplement for farmed fish and other organisms. As they have a bioactive potential that has not yet been explored, they could be the source of new anti-cancer, anti-microbial and pro-osteogenic medicines.

Seaentia

SEAentia is a Portuguese start-up founded by four academics in September 2017, with the aim of producing fish in the most sustainable way possible, through a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). By combining the latest scientific research with technological advances in engineering, SEAentia will be a world pioneer in the sustainable production of Corvina (Argyrosomus regius) in RAS, from egg to commercial size and always with animal welfare as a priority.

Inclita SeaWeedSolutions

ISS – INCLITA SEAWEED SOLUTIONS is a marine biotechnology company dedicated to the development, production, valorisation and commercialisation of functional seaweed extracts for multiple industries such as Cosmetics, Nutraceuticals, Food and Pet Care. With a highly qualified team and years of experience in macroalgae and biorefinery processes, ISS – INCLITA SEAWEED SOLUTIONS aims to be a pioneer in its sector, working with each client to develop innovative and highly sustainable solutions.
