Ana Rita Ribeiro and Ana Moura were among a shortlist of international candidates selected to participate in two UNESCO program courses, respectively: “Ocean Literacy: Why the ocean should matter to us all” and “iSea Stories: understanding the Ocean for media and press,” held during February/March.
“It was an inspiring and rewarding trip that further intensified my desire to share ocean-related issues and implement concrete actions for a more sustainable blue bioeconomy,” said Rita Ribeiro after the 10.5-hour program.
Each course had approximately 30 participants from around the world, with diverse backgrounds but sharing a common area of work and interests.
“I was very pleased to participate in iSea Stories. Besides its inspiring content, having learned and made many contacts, I’m sure it will push us out of our comfort zones towards more goal-oriented and focused activities,” reveals Ana Moura after the 9-hour online course, which featured special videos and tips from international experts, including renowned media personalities.
Both employees continue to develop a special internal project that will soon see the light of day and also plan to apply the new ideas to future initiatives.
The Ocean Literacy training courses are developed by the IOC-UNESCO, specifically targeting educators, media professionals, and government officials. The training courses were delivered on the IOC-UNESCO training platform, the OceanTeacher Global Academy. The project was made possible thanks to the support of the Swedish Government, to which B2E collabies would also like to express its gratitude. More editions of the Ocean Literacy Training Course will be available soon on the Ocean Teacher Global Academy platform and will be online from April.
