Analysis and Sorting in Aquaculture

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for sorting fish in aquaculture. In some implementations, one or more images of a specific fish are obtained within a fish population. Based on one or more images of the fish, a data element is determined. The data element may include a first value reflecting a physical characteristic of the specific fish and a second value reflecting a specific fish condition factor. Based on the data element, the fish is classified as a member of a specific subpopulation of the fish population. An actuator of an automatic fish classifier is controlled based on the classification of the specific fish as a member of the specific subpopulation of the fish population.

Intelligent Water Body Management System

The present invention relates to a water body management system based on artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. The water body management system of the invention comprises an aeration module, a nutrient distribution module, and a sensor module that monitors and maintains water quality parameters. The artificial intelligence module, configured with the sensor module, trains the data obtained from the sensors and feeds it into the aeration, nutrient distribution, or other modules. The present invention has applications in aquaculture management and in the management of water bodies such as lakes, reservoirs, and ponds.

Aquaculture with Enhanced Immunity

Aquaculture systems and methods are provided, as well as immunogenic compositions and methods for immune protection of bivalves against specific pathogens. Methods include the inactivation of specific pathogens using UV (ultraviolet) radiation, the exposure of invertebrates raised or to be raised in aquaculture to specific UV-inactivated pathogens to increase the immune response of exposed invertebrates to specific pathogens, and the rearing of exposed invertebrates in aquaculture. For example, the methods have been shown to increase the immune response of oysters to osteroid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1) after their prior exposure to UV-inactivated OsHV-1.

New Technology Proven to Reduce Nitrites in RAS Without Biofilters

The patented electrocoagulation (EC) technology has proven its ability to remove ammonia within a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) before it converts to nitrites. The NaturalShrimp technical team has now discovered that the EC system can also reduce nitrites without the need for a biofilter in RAS that can suffer from nitrite buildup.

Texture Improvement Process for Small Canned Pelagic Fish

The present invention relates to a process for improving the sensory quality of pelagic fish measuring 12-16 cm, wherein the conditions of the indirect cooking steps at a temperature of 90-95 °C for 20-40 minutes and light drying at a temperature of 30-40 °C for 13-20 minutes, carried out before packaging, make it possible to significantly improve the skin texture.

From the fish to the packaging operation and to the end customer.

Process for preparing marine sausage based on cephalopods

Process for preparing marine sausage characterized by the fact that octopus heads are used in an amount greater than 90% by weight of the final sausage and cooking is carried out between 40 and 60 minutes, said octopus heads are cooled to a temperature below 3 °C for 40 to 60 minutes, said heads are crushed at a temperature between 0 °C and 4 °C, salt, vegetable fat and colatura di alici are added to the crushed heads and the mixture is amalgamated between 10 and 30 minutes at a temperature between 0 °C and 4 °C. Obtaining an amalgamated mass that stabilizes at a temperature between 0 °C and 4 °C for a period between 8 and 16 hours; the amalgamated mass is then filled into casings.

Marine Biotechnology
Application of sulfated polysaccharides against the new coronavirus

An application of sulfated polysaccharides against the new coronavirus. It has been confirmed that sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidan or carrageenan, are able to bind to the S protein on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, preventing the cell membrane of the body’s cells from adsorbing or internalizing the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thus preventing the SARS-CoV-2 virus from infecting the body’s cells, indicating that sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidan or carrageenan, have the effect of preventing or treating pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus.
