Beach or countryside?

Definitely the beach. Since I was a child I’ve dreamed of living by the sea. Currently, I’m experimenting with nature walks and I’m even thinking about doing the Camino de Santiago, but I’ll start with the Portuguese Coastal Way. I can’t lose sight of the ocean!

Swimming or sunbathing?

I love swimming, but at the moment I have to choose sunbathing. The “kitty” in me loves relaxing in a sunny place, and the Atlantic waters are freezing (by my standards)! But if I find myself somewhere with warm water, I’ll do both equally.

Dog or cat?

All pets are lovely. Yes, even tarantulas. I’ve had dogs all my life and now I share my apartment with three cats. But I refuse to choose!

Netflix or YouTube documentaries?

Neither. I don’t really like documentaries. That being said, I don’t have Netflix and I religiously follow several YouTube channels, so if you omit the “documentaries” from the question, the answer is YouTube, of course! If you’re interested in my favorite YouTube topics: fitness (mainly yoga and dance), food, healthy living, among other topics. I definitely recommend Yoga With Adriene and Foil Arms and Hog 😊. And Legal Eagle! And Dr. Mike!

Facebook or LinkedIn?

Instagram? Where I follow yoga content (surprise, surprise!), art, cartoons (check out @joshhamwright to meet my favorite lazy dragon). And LOTS of cats. I’m not the best at social media and I’m only on LinkedIn for professional reasons.

Aquaculture or wild fish?

Aquaculture, of course! I’ve worked in this area for almost two decades, from feed production to aquaculture, including research. I trust our fish! Especially if it’s produced in Portugal!

Meat or vegetables?

Meat. A big, juicy steak. With a glass of red wine. Or two. It depends on my mood, the company…

Coffee or tea?

Tea, or to be more precise, herbal infusions. I start my day with green tea and then move on to infusions, always without sugar. I drink more than 1.5 liters a day; that’s how I stay hydrated (I’m not a big fan of plain water). I’ve reduced my caffeine intake to a minimum, and usually my espressos are decaf. But tea is my love. Mint.

Nori seaweed or sea lettuce?

Nori, because, see below!

Sushi or grilled fish?

Sushi! As a proud Portuguese, I love grilled fish (but not as much as the succulent steak mentioned above…). But sushi was love at first sight. I could eat it every day and twice on Sundays!

RAS or IMTA?

Both, together! In my opinion, RAS (Remotely Accelerated Aquaculture) is the future for Portugal, since our natural conditions are not ideal for offshore aquaculture. But since we can adapt IMTA (Integrated Mobility Technology) to RAS, and IMTA has clear advantages in terms of environmental sustainability, I would say both.
