Project – Blue BioEconomy Pact

Vertical Fish

Food Quality, Wave of Sustainability

What is it about?

As a leading institution in the field of ocean science and technological innovation Vertical Fish it is an innovative project that aims to transform the food industry through sustainable solutions, and collaborative. With the support of the The plan of Recovery and Resiliencythis initiative will focus on the the improvement of the quality, safety, and sustainability of the fishand promoting practices and to be more responsible and cost-effective.

The project operates on two main fronts:

  1. To increase the security of the food,by identifying the areas and the species that are vulnerable.
  2. To develop a modular approach to production, where the by-products of the one-step is then reused in another, by means of the integration of the organisms of the lower trophic levels by promoting a strategy of zero waste.

Why is that?

  • Food security is enhanced: Monitoring and mitigation of risks to the authorities.
  • Integrated sustainability: Re-use of resources within the production system.
  • The innovation of modular: Systems are flexible and efficient, with a lower impact on the environment.
  • Circular economy applied to: The valuation of by-products and reduction of waste.

Goals

  • To understand the the areas and the species that are most vulnerable to.
  • Identifying species additional to capture and re-use the nutrients.
  • Build modular system for producing stand-alone and integrated.
  • Explore the biomass of the species in the supplementary in the systems of farming.
