PREMI – Regional Smart Sea Platform

What is it about?

The PREMI – Regional Smart Sea Platform is a project funded by NORTE 2030 and co-financed by the ERDF, aimed at boosting the Regional Smart Specialization Platform dedicated to Marine Resources and the Blue Economy (PREI REM) in the Northern region of Portugal.

The project establishes the necessary conditions for the regular operation of this platform as a collective structure for developing recommendations and action guidelines for the sector. B2E CoLAB is one of the consortium partners, coordinating the working group on Biotechnologies, their applications, and circular economy.

Why is that?

Smart specialization: Strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem in the blue economy through the entrepreneurial discovery process.
Diagnosis and valorization: Mapping existing marine and coastal resources and identifying innovation opportunities across value chains.
Skills for the future: Identifying training gaps and proposing programs that respond to emerging sector needs.
Internationalization: Integrating regional stakeholders into international networks and platforms that facilitate access to markets and funding.

Goals

Manage and promote PREI REM as a collective structure for developing strategic proposals in the field of Marine Resources and the Blue Economy.
Assess, map, and valorize living and non-living marine resources, as well as the region’s technological and scientific infrastructure.
Develop entrepreneurial discovery programs with relevant stakeholders, identifying technological gaps and innovation opportunities.
Formulate flagship projects and strategic guidelines for regional smart specialization.
Diagnose critical skills gaps and propose training and ocean literacy programs.
