SPAROS is organizing, within the framework of the Green Aquaculture Intensification (GAIN) project, a workshop on September 21st and 22nd to present and discuss new developments in knowledge about innovative fish feeds that support the eco-intensification of the European aquaculture industry, providing training for professionals on this topic, including aspects of value creation and sustainable use of by-products and secondary streams from aquaculture, fisheries, and agro-industries.

Organized by the GAIN project with the support of the H2020 PerformFISH, AquaIMPACT, MEDAID, AQUAVITAE, NewTechAqua; and the SUSHIN project (Italy).

Purpose: The objective of the workshop is to present and discuss new developments in knowledge about new fish feeds that support the eco-intensification of the European aquaculture industry, providing training for professionals on this topic, including aspects of value creation and sustainable use of by-products and secondary streams from aquaculture, fisheries, and agro-industries.

Target groups: Professionals in the aquaculture feed value chain (e.g., junior and senior staff involved in R&D, formulation, and technical support) and research institutions (e.g., professors, researchers, doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows) throughout the enlarged European Union and other countries.

Day 1 (September 21, 2021, online, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM CEST)

Part 1: Introduction – What are sustainable aquatic feeds?

Part 2: Innovative Ingredients – Strengths and Weaknesses
Yeast and bacterial proteins, PAPs from agro-industrial by-products, aquaculture by-products, micro and macroalgae, mineral and vitamin sources, challenges for a sustainable supply
