Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture Filter for Recirculating Aquaculture System

An integrated biofilter for a recirculating aquaculture system that combines multiple treatment stages. It includes a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) for bacterial growth and nitrification, thereby generating biomass. It further incorporates periphyton and halophyte biofilters to oxygenate the water and remove nutrients, producing edible plant biomass.

Intensification of Palmaria Palmata Protein Biorefinery Using Multifrequency Ultrasonication and Enzymes

The study explores protein extraction from the red seaweed Palmaria Palmata using ultrasound-assisted and enzyme-assisted processes. High-frequency ultrasound combined with enzymes significantly improves total protein yield compared to traditional methods. Synergistic effects between acoustic fields and enzymes enhance cell wall disruption and extraction efficiency. The work introduces enzyme-assisted high-frequency ultrasound extraction (EAUE) as a novel process intensification strategy for seaweed biorefinery applications.

Biostimulants and Enhancement Thereof in Spirulina

A biostimulant composition combines bioavailable vitamin B12 with phenylalanine and lysine to increase soil organic carbon and crop growth through synergistic effects. These bioactive compounds can be derived from microalgae or cyanobacteria such as Spirulina and Nannochloropsis. Controlled algal cultivation is used to enhance the production of B12 and amino acids. The process can be integrated with other industries to improve the overall efficiency of biostimulant production.

The Use of Spirulina Powder to Enrich Honey with Antioxidants and Highly Digestible Protein

The study investigated the enrichment of rapeseed honey with Spirulina powder (0.15 -1.2%) to enhance its nutritional value. The results showed that 1.2% Spirulina significantly increased digestible protein content and antioxidant capacity. These improvements remained stable over 6 months of storage at room temperature. The Spirulina-enriched honey was identified as a promising functional food with beneficial health properties.
