The B2E CoLAB will host the next edition of the Blue Wink-E (Working for INnovation and Knowledge Exchange) conference on November 30th at the Infante D. Henrique Auditorium in Matosinhos, Portugal. This prominent event will address the critical theme “How to Finance the Blue Bioeconomy,” aiming to explore innovative solutions for the sustainable financing of projects in the ocean economy and bioeconomy.

The blue bioeconomy plays a vital role in preserving our oceans and promoting sustainable and circular economic growth. In response to global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, wars, high inflation, and increasing dependence on international raw materials, it becomes imperative to understand how to effectively finance projects in this dynamic sector.

The main objective of the conference is to bring together leaders, experts, investors, public and private sector representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss, debate, and share solutions for effectively financing the blue bioeconomy.

Blue Wink-E aims to:

▪ Identify alternative sources to public funding: Explore and discuss innovative funding models, such as private investment, impact financing, and crowdfunding, that can drive the development of the blue bioeconomy.

▪ Promote collaboration and networking: Provide a space for networking and knowledge exchange between companies, investors, and research centers, aiming to create strategic partnerships and collaborations to promote innovation in the blue bioeconomy.

▪ Present successful case studies: Highlight concrete examples of projects and initiatives that have succeeded using alternative funding sources, inspiring others to adopt similar approaches.

▪ Explore barriers and opportunities: Analyze the barriers and challenges faced by the blue bioeconomy sector in accessing private funding and discuss ways to overcome them. At the same time, highlight the opportunities and competitive advantages that can be obtained through alternative funding models.

In parallel, Blue Wink-E 2023 will feature a showcase of companies in the blue bioeconomy sector, Blue Connect, a unique opportunity for companies to present their services, foster partnerships, and promote collaboration.

This event promises to be a landmark in the debate on the future of financing the blue bioeconomy, with the support of APDL – Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo, S.A.
