B2E – CoLAB for the Blue Bioeconomy participated in the event “Charting a Regional Course for the Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030”, which took place on June 4, 2024, in Coimbra.

Organized by the Central Region Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRC), in partnership with the University of Aveiro, the event “Charting a Regional Course for the Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030” aimed to mobilize various stakeholders from the central region of Portugal to achieve the objectives of the European Union Mission “Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030”.

Ana Rita Ribeiro, Innovation and Projects Manager at B2E CoLAB, was one of the invited speakers on the second panel, entitled “What does the mission offer to the private sector? How can the private sector thrive while pursuing the mission’s objectives and supporting the advancement of regional smart specialization?”. This panel discussed how companies can integrate into sustainability efforts and contribute to the advancement of the blue economy, promoting innovation and regional cooperation.

The event, held at the CCDRC headquarters in Coimbra, brought together entrepreneurs, protected area managers, regional authorities, and citizens to co-develop innovative solutions that contribute to the sustainability of water resources. The agenda included several sessions and panel discussions focused on different aspects of the mission, such as opportunities for the private sector and support for local authorities in implementing European objectives.

The B2E CoLAB is dedicated to the blue bioeconomy, focusing on the sustainable valorization of marine resources. Participation in this event underscores the B2E CoLAB’s commitment to collaborating with initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring the oceans, aligning with regional smart specialization strategies.

With this participation, the B2E CoLAB reinforces the importance of cooperation between different regional actors to achieve a positive and lasting impact on marine and aquatic ecosystems, thus contributing to a more sustainable future.
