The B2E CoLAB for the Blue Bioeconomy is participating as a training entity in the Pós-Graduação em Liderança na Economia Azul in Portugal, in the module dedicated to aquaculture and blue biotechnology. This postgraduate program, which began in early 2025, is a collaboration between the  Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC) and the Centro de Competência em Economia Azul,, and aims to promote leadership and innovation in the sustainable blue economy sector.

Maria Coelho, coordinator of B2E CoLAB, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “This course is a milestone in the training of professionals and leaders for the blue bioeconomy. The work we carry out at B2E CoLAB, focused on the application of innovative solutions in biotechnology, sustainable aquaculture, and the use of living marine resources, reinforces our commitment to building a sustainable future for marine ecosystems and the national economy. Our participation in this program is an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with future generations of specialists.”

The training will be enriched by the experience of several members of the B2E CoLAB team, including Maria Coelho, Ana Rita Ribeiro, Tânia Almeida (innovation managers), and Taynara Franco (Life Cycle Assessment specialist).

The postgraduate course in Liderança na Economia Azul, promoted by IPVC and the Center of Competence in the Blue Economy, aims to prepare professionals for the challenges and opportunities of the sustainable blue economy. The training offers an interconnected approach between environmental sustainability and technological innovation, focusing on areas such as blue biotechnology, marine resource management, sustainable aquaculture, and ecosystem regeneration.

It is aimed at a diverse audience, including professionals and technicians from public and private companies, public policy managers, investors, consultants, and higher education students who wish to specialize in the blue economy. The postgraduate course is designed to empower participants to develop innovative solutions and make strategic decisions that contribute to the sustainability and growth of the ocean economy in Portugal and globally.
