On September 25, the Port of Leixões Cruise Terminal will host an event organized by Inovamar, bringing together all partners of the Blue Bioeconomy Pact (PBA) consortium, within the scope of projects funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The meeting will feature an exhibition dedicated to Co-promotion Projects and a conference on the PBA, which will include roundtable discussions with representatives from the different Work Packages.
B2E – Blue Bioeconomy CoLAB will be present with an exhibition stand dedicated to the Fish Matter project, which it leads within the scope of the PBA. This project’s mission is to enhance the value of marine co-products and raw materials by creating a smart platform capable of connecting co-product generators, processing companies, and technology suppliers. The goal is to promote new value chains, facilitating the transformation of often underutilized resources into products with higher added value.
In addition to the exhibition, B2E CoLAB will participate in the conference round table, with a presentation by Maria Coelho, coordinator of B2E CoLAB, who will represent the Work Package and share perspectives on the advances and challenges of the Smart Platform for the Valorization of Co-products from the Blue Bioeconomy.
Fish Matter is a project led by B2E CoLAB, with the participation of CIIMAR, IPMA, ISEP, the University of Aveiro, and the University of Minho.
The Blue Bioeconomy Pact
The Blue Bioeconomy Pact is part of the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation, provided for in the PRR, one of the initiatives funded by the European Union in Portugal. The consortium brings together 83 national entities: 53 companies of different sizes and sectors (from large multinational groups to SMEs and startups) and 30 ENESII – Non-Business Entities of the R&I System.
By 2025, the consortium will invest €133 million in the development of more than 50 new products, processes, and services.
The main objective of the Pact is to boost a new cutting-edge industrial economic sector in Portugal, based on the sustainable application of marine bioresources in multiple industries. The ongoing projects will contribute to the decarbonization of the Portuguese economy, promoting economic growth, the creation of skilled jobs, and the reduction of carbon emissions.
