The Collaborative Laboratory for the Blue Bioeconomy (B2E CoLAB) has joined the European BioGov.net project to promote the transition to a sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy. The project aims to explore governance models, guidelines, and practices applicable to education and training in the sector, as well as skills development.

In collaboration with LOBA, the Portuguese partner in this project funded by the Horizon Europe program, B2E CoLAB will co-organize the first Portuguese BioGov.net workshop, entitled The Potential of the Bioeconomy in Education and Sustainable Development. The event will take place on June 21, starting at 2:30 p.m., at the headquarters of ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, in Porto.

The workshop aims to bring together Portuguese stakeholders actively involved in the bioeconomy sector in order to create a platform for discussing and sharing good practices and regional case studies identified by the BioGov.net project. In addition, it seeks to identify regional needs and priorities related to the bioeconomy in Portugal and launch the “Community of Practice” in Portugal, focusing on education and lifelong learning in the field of bioeconomy, exploring the innovative intersections between bioeconomy, arts, and culture.

During the event, the executive coordinator of B2E CoLAB, Maria Coelho, will be the keynote speaker, focusing on the current state of the bioeconomy in Portugal, highlighting trends, opportunities, promising sectors, value chains, and the importance of education in this sector.

The BioGov.net project is being implemented in eight European countries, including Portugal, Estonia, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. The goal is to involve various stakeholders in the debate on regional needs and strategies to boost the bioeconomy in education and professional training, as well as to explore the potential of arts and culture as catalysts for the sector.

Registration is now closed.
