Matosinhos is becoming a veritable laboratory for the blue economy, where science, innovation, and sustainability go hand in hand. At CIIMAR, we are at the center of ocean-related scientific research, where cutting-edge technology meets sustainability.
In this context, B2E CoLAB plays an active role, promoting links between research, industry, and society, with a view to accelerating the blue bioeconomy. This mission was highlighted in a recent report by SIC Notícias’ The Next Big Idea program, which presented Matosinhos as the “City of the Sea.”
The program included an interview with Maria Coelho, coordinator of B2E CoLAB, who spoke about the Fish Matter platform and shared ideas on the role of collaborative research and innovation in promoting sustainable ocean-based solutions.
The report also featured other prominent figures in Matosinhos, namely Vítor Vasconcelos, president of CIIMAR, Carlos Almeida, senior researcher at INESC TEC, Catarina Ricca, head of business development at Inclita Seaweed Solutions, and Luís Madureira, managing partner at OceanScan-MST. All of them highlighted the collaborative spirit and shared vision for the blue economy in the region.
