Matosinhos Economic Advisory Council discusses the future of the Blue Economy
B2E – CoLAB for the Blue Bioeconomy was the entity Matosinhos City Council chose to organize and promote discussion at the first meeting of the working group that makes up the Blue Economy and Green Energies Thematic Advisory Council. Held at the Casa da Juventude in Matosinhos, this event brought various strategic players and underlined the municipality’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Chaired by the Councillor for Economic Activities, Marta Pontes, the meeting was attended by representatives from various institutions, such as the Douro and Leixões Ports Administration (APDL), Porto Business School, AICEP, UPTEC Mar, and others. This meeting marked the start of a collaborative effort to strengthen the sea economy in the region.
Hosted by B2E CoLAB, the session was divided into two main parts. The first focused on analyzing the current state of the Economy of the Sea, while the second addressed prospects, with participants organized into working groups to draw up concrete proposals. The discussions resulted in several recommendations, highlighting the need for integrated strategies for the development of the Blue Economy in Matosinhos.
