AQUACULTURE

Single-cell protein products with high digestibility for use as aquafeed

The present invention relates to a composition comprising a yeast single-cell protein (SCP) product with a degree of hydrolysis. It has a minimum degree of hydrolysis of 12%, with progressive preferences for higher values (16%, 20%, 24%, 28%).  Preferably, the yeast single-cell protein product is used as a feed ingredient in aquaculture. The yeast single-cell protein product is advantageously digestible in contrast to other protein sources for aquaculture, such as fish meal.

LIVING MARINE RESOURCES

High protein microalgal biomass having excellent pepsin digestibility, culture method, and use

The present study focuses on high-protein microalgal biomass, which exhibits excellent pepsin digestibility. The culture method for producing this biomass and its applications are discussed. The composition disclosed in the present invention not only has a high protein content but also contains omega-3 fatty acids, which are valuable for their similarity to those found in fish meal. As a result, this microalgal biomass can serve as a direct replacement for fish meal in animal feed formulations.

MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY

Marine microalgae – producer of lutein and other carotenoids

The invention relates to a new strain of microalgae, Parachlorella sp. Nanno 1 (IPPAS C-2073), which is a producer of carotenoids, especially lutein. This strain accumulates a high level of carotenoids, with approximately two-thirds being lutein, and exhibits favorable organoleptic properties. The substances produced can be used in dietary supplements, food additives for humans, and animal feed, primarily for aquaculture. The strain demonstrates a high growth rate, rapid pigment accumulation, with a simple and scalable cultivation protocol.

Mixotrophy in marine microalgae to enhance their bioactivity

Microalgae such as Nannochloropsis granulata, Phaeodactylum tricornutum, and Chlorella sp. produce bioactive compounds when grown mixotrophically, enhancing both biomass and metabolic diversity. Phaeodactylum tricornutum showed strong antiproliferative and antibacterial properties, while Chlorella sp. also exhibited antibacterial activity. Metabolomics analysis identified key bioactive compounds, highlighting the potential of mixotrophic cultivation for biotechnological applications.
