B2E CoLAB attends event on the Sustainable Fisheries and Future Blue Food
The IPMA auditorium in Algés will host the international event “Sustainable Fisheries and Future Blue Food in the North Atlantic” on December 4 and 5, 2024.
Organized by the National Committee for the Decade of the Ocean (CNDO), in collaboration with IPMA and Docapesca, the meeting brings together experts and key decision-makers for a panel discussion on innovation and sustainability in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. On the second day, Ana Rita Ribeiro, B2E CoLAB’s Project and Innovation Manager, will participate in the “Valuing fish products” panel from 12:10 to 1 p.m. to present key contributions to the future of the blue bioeconomy.
B2E CoLAB’s presence at this prestigious event reflects our commitment to promoting sustainable practices and scientific innovations in the fishing, aquaculture, and processing value chain. Rita Ribeiro will discuss the issue of fully using fish, an increasingly relevant concept for marine sustainability. This approach not only aims to reduce waste but also to create value from by-products that are usually discarded.
The valorization of by-products such as oils, proteins, and bioactive compounds is a strategy that combines sustainability and innovation, contributing to multiple industries, from food to cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. This approach demonstrates how applying science and technology can transform waste into valuable resources, promoting a more circular and efficient economic model.
In the context of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), this event takes on a crucial role in addressing the challenge of making the oceans both more productive and sustainable. The “Fish Industry” session, with the participation of Rita Ribeiro, will provide an opportunity to discuss practical solutions and share experiences that can shape the future of the blue food sector.
With a history of collaboration on strategic projects in the area of the blue bioeconomy, B2E CoLAB reaffirms a commitment to actively contributing to the sustainable transformation of the sector. Participating in this event not only reinforces B2E CoLAB’s position as a benchmark organization, but also reflects our ongoing commitment to innovate and collaborate with stakeholders to develop a more resilient and productive ocean
